Occupational Summary

The senior director position in Duke Medicine Development and Alumni Affairs reports to a member of the DMDAA leadership team, and serves as a principal deputy in developing and managing fund raising programs and staff across all programs within DMDAA. Provides administrative management and coordination of fund raising programs and/or development services within DMDAA.

Work Performed

Evaluate, develop and implement program vision, goals, and strategy to expand capacity in fund raising activity and outcomes throughout DMDAA.

Recommend organizational design and enhancements to business process.

Manage organizational change and programmatic growth.

Facilitate communication and effective collaborations between fund raising programs within DMDAA as well as between fund raising programs and DMDAA central services.

Provide administrative management and coordination of fund raising or central service programs, including managing staff for these programs.

Identify objectives and opportunities for program growth and develop and implement strategic plans to address these.

Provide guidance to direct reports in developing new initiatives and timelines, and ensure that plans are synergistic and in line with other DMDAA activities, goals and objectives.

Provide leadership with the organizational structure design, professional development and succession plan and budget preparation.

Recommend operational efficiencies. Develop and prioritize opportunities for improvement and lead efforts to implement enhancements to both process and systems.

Oversee the development of standard operating procedures.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires communication, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program. Advanced degree preferred.

Experience

Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in managing development programs and staff.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
