Occupational Summary

Leads, executes, and oversees processes and procedures for SOM clinical faculty recruitment offers, faculty effort changes between Duke entities, annual clinical faculty workforce planning process, review of out of cycle faculty recruitment requests including proformas. In addition, this position will serve as lead facilitator and coordinator in partnership with faculty practice plan for annual faculty appointment letters, as well as work in close partnership with the Compensation Director on all SOM components of compensation.

Work Performed

Ensures that all requisitions and appointment packages are complete with submitted documents that are accurate and have the appropriate level of approval prior to routing to SOM leadership committee for formal review.

Works closely with SOM finance team members to ensure budget alignment and approval prior to faculty offer and appointment packages are executed.

Leads faculty search requisition and package review meeting with SOM leadership as necessary.

Oversees process metrics to ensure best practice benchmarks are being met.

Provides guidance and subject-matter expertise to SOM and department leaders for all processes outlined above.

Communicates with SOM and department leadership to resolve issues.

Provides continuing education, including targeted training on process improvement and systems integration, for new and existing departmental administrators and HR staff.

Acts as initial point of contact for faculty operations questions in SOM Dean's office.

Provides independent daily resolution of a wide range of faculty administration and operations questions from SOM departments and centers, using established University and/or School of Medicine policies and procedures.

Assists in the review and approval of transactions to update faculty records.

Works with SOM leadership to resolve policy considerations.

Partners with SOM finance and SOM Leadership when needed to ensure budget alignment and approval of off-cycle compensation transactions.

Collaborates directly with departmental leadership and human resources to resolve outstanding questions regarding faculty.

Provides strategic leadership on key strategic integration projects with the faculty practice plan, including, but not limited to: Mission accounting/effort allocation; Annual incentive metric compilation and audit; SOM leadership benchmarking in partnership with Compensation manager; GME project implementation in collaboration with SOM finance and departments; Funds flow implementation; Monitoring and reporting

Performs other responsibilities as required.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Bachelor degree in a quantitative field required (ex. Business or Accounting)

Experience

At least 10 years of analytic experience in clinician compensation, practice management, or academic medical center audit or financial management.
