Occupational Summary

Manage and coordinate accounting activities and financial reporting in an assigned unit of Auxiliary Services Finance Office.

Work Performed

Supervise and manage day to day activities of accounting personnel in an assigned unit of Auxiliary Services Finance Office.

Develop, standardize and implement with approval of Assistant Director, Finance the central accounting policies and procedures throughout assigned unit.

Coordinate preparation and dissemination of all monthly financial reports from detail financial statements and other sources; develop and prepare other reports as requested; prepare analysis of expenditures and revenue on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

Monitor activity in each operating component, advising of problems as necessary.

Provide training and guidance for accounting personnel as necessary to keep each fully abreast with generally accepted and University accounting policies and procedures.

Perform internal audits of departments within Auxiliary Services.

Study and evaluate internal controls on a continuing basis; make recommendations for eliminating internal control deficiencies to the Assistant Director of Finance for Auxiliary Services.

Study and evaluate computer needs of the unit; make recommendations for a higher degree of automation to the Assistant Director of Finance for Auxiliary Services.

Provide assistance to Assistant Director, Finance in development of departmental budgets and forecasts.

Direct various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals and disciplinary actions.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work generally requires a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or a related field.

Experience

Work requires a knowledge of accepted accounting principles and practices generally acquired through three years of experience in accounting/financial operations.
