Occupational Summary
Perform a variety of duties involved in the testing, evaluation, diagnosis and administration of remedial treatments for patients with speech and language disorders.
Work Performed
Administer a variety of tests to evaluate and diagnose speech and language disorders; coordinate findings with medical, educational, social and behavioral diagnostic data; interpret test results for patients, parents and other concerned parties.
Treat a variety of speech and language impairments to include functional articulation disorders involving cleft palate, cerebral palsy, aphasia and impaired hearing.
Plan and participate in remedial programs designed to improve or restore communicative skills; counsel speech and language handicapped patients; write progress reports as needed.
Participate in research related to the development of diagnostic and remedial techniques, procedures or apparatus associated with voice, speech or language.
Act as speech consultant to medical, educational and other professional groups.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Work requires a Master's degree in Speech Pathology. NC licensure as a Speech Pathologist and a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech/Language Pathology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) is also required.
Experience
None required beyond Education/Training requirement.
