Occupational Summary

Responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of quality services and client satisfaction for assigned region. Establishes and maintains liaison relationships with key hospital personnel. Develops a strategic plan and objective for the region on an annual basis. Provides consultation and training to management on the identification and resolution of job performance problems relative to employees personal problems. Staffs all critical cases with PAS Director. Ensures the implementation of annual program promotion and awareness activities to meet utilization targets. Works collaboratively with PAS Director to assure accountability and efficiency of EAP services. Provides clinical EAP services for individuals, couples and families. All other duties as assigned.

Work Performed

Develop strategic plan and promotions for assigned region. Build participation through program promotion, in-service presentations and prevention programs.

Develop relationships with key leadership and human resources professionals in assigned region.

Participate in relevant committees, partner with local human resources and to assure access to services that support employees health, safety and wellbeing.

Provide autonomous and independent direct clinical services, including comprehensive mental health assessment, coaching, short-term counseling, case management, and referral services to Duke Faculty, staff, and their eligible family members.

Consult with supervisors and human resource staff, provide consultations to management regarding occupational mental health and productivity issues in the workplace.

Assess and provide customized organizational responses for events that disrupt the emotional stability and functioning of employees or work units, such as reductions in force and grief response.

Provide specialized risk management interventions within the University and Health System.

Confer and collaborate with EOHW about Fitness-for-Duty cases.

Provide pain management strategies and psychosocial support for clients with a work injury or illness; provide extended assistance for clients recovering from substance abuse; provide consultation and guidance to management addressing suspected impairment, or employee behaviors of concern, including risk of harm to self or others.

Participate as a mental health professional with Dukes Critical Incident Response Program and primary responder for disruptive events in assigned region. Provide Psychological First Aid and crisis response models.

Serve as a team leader for group interventions.

Design and deliver training for employees and organizational leaders about work performance problems, occupational mental health issues, suicide prevention, violence prevention, and related workplace concerns.

Collaborate with the PAS Director and serve in lead role on various projects to advance program initiatives, in areas of program development and operations, program communications and marketing, and outcome evaluation.

Establish linkages and referral relationships with Duke Providers, private practice therapists, and community resources in support of enhancing health and well-being of the workforce.

Coordinate and facilitate referrals.

Stay current about employee assistance and new mental health treatment modalities.

Participate in peer supervision and quality assurance activities.

Some local travel may be required.

Perform other duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Master degree in mental health field.

Independently licensed mental health professional required (LCSW, LMCHC, LMFT, Ph.D.) Certified Employee Assistance Professional and/or Chemical Dependency Certification preferred.

Experience

Five years experience with direct clinical services, including broad exposure to chemical dependency and psychiatric diagnoses. Prior experience in employee assistance program and/or clinical experience with professional populations highly desirable.

Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
