Occupational Summary

Manage, implement and monitor service standards for all Duke University Merchandise Concessions; develop and implement plans for marketing concessions; administer established policies and procedures to ensure efficient and profitable operations; provide merchandising, expense and loss control, sales and profits, budget planning, facility planning and supervision. Coordinate, monitor, and supervise assigned operational, merchandising, personnel, and customer service activities at the Duke University Team Store.

Work Performed

Manage and coordinate all operations and merchandising activities of Duke University Merchandise Concessions to include administering plans for product mix, pricing structures, delivery services, purchasing, marketing, product display and inventory control; maintain cash receipts and records and prepare pertinent financial reports. Develop budgetary recommendations based on fiscal requirements; ensure compliance with established budget; implement appropriate action to eliminate budget variances.

Develop and maintain contractual agreements with vendors and concessionaires to ensure compliance with University policy and procedures.

Recommend procurement of equipment and facilities instrumental to the performance of operations; coordinate all matters related to receiving records, invoices, transfers, shortage and damage reports and purchase orders; supervise periodic physical inventories. Prepare for and perform an annual merchandise concessions physical inventory and interact with audit team and management staff to correct inventory errors.

Represent Duke University Merchandise Concessions and maintain liaison with the Athletics department and other University departments as needed.

Assist with designated merchandising activities in the Team Store, including merchandise presentation and display, product selection, monitoring of uniform pricing, determination of retail store prices, coordination of routine merchandise inventories, and price adjustment control.

Assist in formulating loss prevention, operating, merchandising and personnel policies and procedures for designated areas. Develop and coordinate the work schedules for Team Store; advise the Team Store Manager of current labor requirements and essential changes; resolve internal labor issues and scheduling inconsistencies. In the absence of the Team Store Manager, assume responsibility for overall operations.

Manage various personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring, disciplinary actions, grievances, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires the ability to plan, manage and control costs in a food service or stores operations unit generally equivalent to a college degree in food management, business or related field.

Experience

Work requires two years of food service or stores operations experience.
