Occupational Summary

Maintain contact with all endowment donors and other friends of the University to ensure a positive and continuing long term relationship with Duke; coordinate all historical record keeping and information concerning endowment donors.

Work Performed

Report to donors on non financial, human interest oriented information concerning the utilization of their gifts at Duke University; communicate in writing and in person with individual donors and friends to provide timely information to improve or continue positive relationships.

Supervise the creation and periodic updates if existing endowment files and supervise research of additional information from library, archives, donor families and other sources in order to update files and develop accurate individual donor profiles.

Provide information and articles for press releases and publications to improve donor relations and encourage others to make gifts.

Develop and implement ideas and coordinate with other development staff to increase endowments and generate additional gifts through utilization of data in files as well as personal contact with donors.

Solicit those current donors whose endowment funds have not reached required University minimums and other endowment donors as warranted.

Ensure stewardship programs in other areas of the University keep appropriate contact with donors to ensure a continuing relationship with the University.

Participate in the preparation of regular and special periodic reports to University officials and volunteer groups as requested.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Experience

Work requires one year of experience in fund raising, alumni affairs, public relations, student activities, program administration or a related field to become familiar with activities involved in planning special events or programs.
