Occupational Summary

Manage and coordinate student financial aid programs; evaluate student needs and eligibility, select candidates and determine type and amount of financial assistance to be awarded.

Work Performed

Direct daily operations of the Registrar Office to provide a central and consistent registration operation, ensuring integrity of the academic and student record keeping; develop systems that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of registration services; interpret registration management practices to students, faculty, parents.

Work closely with Associate Registrar in collection and dissemination of data, providing academic and student data for institutional research, preparing and publishing official enrollment statistics and other related activities.

Review course scheduling practices on an ongoing basis to ensure efficient use of class day and academic facilities.

Plan and schedule work for the Financial Aid staff ensuring proper distribution of assignments, working closely with the Assistant Director.

Do likewise in the Office of the Registrar working closely with the Associate Registrar.

Supervise and Coordinate employee hiring, promotion, job performance assessment, and termination activities for the Financial Aid and Registrars staff.

Assist in making application for Federal Funds for government loan programs; administer rules and regulations set forth by the Federal Government concerning government funds and conditions established by donors of funds.

Responsible for the overall financial oversight and processes, including the grant demand process as well as operational needs for both offices including budget preparation, monthly budget preparation, monthly budget reconciliation.

Develop and disseminate policies and procedures common to all Medical Education Offices.

Mediate problems of students and staff; negotiate with other offices to achieve performance goals and efficiencies.

Chair biweekly meetings with Financial Aid and Registrar staff and follow up on issues.

Serve as the SOM Representative as requested by the Associate Dean at various meetings and on various committees.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires a Bachelors Degree.

Experience

8 years of professional financial aid experience.

Masters degree would equate to two years of experience.
