Occupational Summary
Plan and direct day to day operations and investment activities of the Duke University Management Company (DUMAC), and coordinate its interface with the Duke University administration.
Work Performed
Serve as Chief Executive Officer of DUMAC; set strategy and direct all areas of operations; ensure implementation of the University Trustees and DUMAC Boards investment policies and overall investment management directives.
Serve as a voting ex officio member of the DUMAC Board of Directors and Executive Committee; represent principal contact between Board and DUMAC operations.
Chair Investment Policy Committee, responsible for overall management of DUMAC portfolios, investment strategies, and economic analysis; make final decision on which investments to make and/or recommend to the DUMAC Board for approval.
Supervise senior staff in each major area of the company.
Submit a proposed annual budget for DUMAC to the Board of Directors and Trustee Executive Committee prior to the beginning of the fiscal year covered by the budget.
Report annually to the Trustee Executive Committee on the operations of Duke Management Company.
Recommend to the Board of Directors persons to be officers of the management company other than the president.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
