Occupational Summary

Manage the back office operations and data processing functions of the Duke University Federal Credit Union (DUFCU) to include the proper and efficient operation of the data processing system, effective utilization of external service providers, and implementation of credit union policies and procedures.

Work Performed

Ensure efficient operation of the data processing system; develop and manage all data processing system updates and/or enhancements; schedule, process and document all system jobs (e.g., payroll deduction postings, ATM entries, ACH entries, daily activity reports); diagnose erratic system/equipment behavior; ensure routine preventive maintenance is performed according to maintenance contract schedules; act as liaison with vendor and recommend needed enhancements.

Ensure compliance with technology regulations and laws governing federal credit unions; establish internal controls and procedures to ensure effective and prudent administration of DUFCU operations.

Review and manage all internal processes ensuring efficiency including check and plastic card processing, as well as research, compliance and innovation in all assigned areas; conduct cost studies on existing member services and processes.

Manage all internet and intranet systems; research and propose upcoming technology for possible purchase; ensure regulatory compliance.

Establish and maintain disaster recovery procedures.

Serve as Staff to the Board of Director's Internal Business committee.

Plan and schedule work for subordinate personnel ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate staffing for subsequent performance of duties; provide training to personnel.

Recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires a thorough knowledge of business operations generally acquired through a bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a directly related field. Credit Union certification preferred.

Experience

Work requires five years of experience in a financial institution's operations setting to become familiar with accepted back office procedures and data processing.
