Occupational Summary
Provide consultation and assistance to users of computer facilities to include reviewing and correcting computer programs, teaching computer courses and developing or modifying computer programs compatible with user requirements to solve scientific, mathematical, business and information processing problems.
Work Performed
Provide consultation and assistance to users of computer facilities to include analyzing user programming needs and requirements and assisting user in determining feasibility of utilizing original or existing computer programs; develop or modify complex computer programs compatible with user requirements. Review computer programs prepared by users to ensure desired results are attainable; assist user in correcting programming discrepancies.
Plan and teach courses to University students and staff concerning computer programming techniques and computer capabilities of the Duke University Computation Center.
Maintain liaison with representatives of other University data processing operations and professional organizations to ensure utilization of current principles and techniques.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Work requires a Bachelor's degree in mathematics or a computer related field, or the equivalent coursework or technical training.
Experience
Work requires one year programming or analytical experience with knowledge of several computer languages and experience compiling, link editing, executing, reading, and writing to peripheral equipment, and batch and interactive computing.
