Occupational Summary

Serve as expert statistical programming resource and/or assist in managing the Statistical Programming group; analyze research needs to determine feasibility of adapting manual procedures to computer applications; design, coordinate, and help to develop, modify, and maintain computer systems required to enhance clinical care and research.

Work Performed

Expert resource and/or assistant manager of programming department.

Serve as expert statistical programming technical resource and implement and oversee statistical software system projects.

Assist in developing and revising SOPs, project budgeting, hiring, and staffing decisions.

Learn, apply, and share new techniques to increase efficiencies. Implement departmental infrastructure improvements and industry trend solutions (regulatory, technical, CDISC).

Mentor and/or manage junior staff and educate others in formal, informal, and conference settings.

Develop, modify, maintain, and validate computer programs.

Oversee large multi protocol sponsor projects as needed.

Develop programs to support research needs and validate computer applications.

Follow SOP documentation standards and maintain analysis programming notebook.

Estimate and manage project workload through providing status updates to supervisor.

Estimate time required to completed and provide status updates to supervisor.

Estimate time required to complete various tasks.

Attend and contribute to team meetings and coordinate statistical programming efforts of others.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires a Bachelors degree in mathematics or computer related field, or equivalent coursework or technical training.

Experience

Work requires eight years of clinical trials statistical programming experience along with expert knowledge of SAS software. Some experience or training in employee supervision is required for staff management functions. Preferred experience includes knowledge of several computer languages and good knowledge of the UNIX operating system.
