Occupational Summary

Assists the Director in identification, strategic planning and development of emerging curricula designed to meet the growing demand for skilled research management professionals at Duke University. Leads or participates in Duke University training development teams (including interdisciplinary curriculum teams) leading to the design, implementation and maintenance of a high quality training and professional development initiative. Provides leadership for the RCC Program Coordinator.

Work Performed

Assists the Director in identification, strategic planning and development of emerging curricula designed to meet the growing demand for skilled research management professionals at Duke University.

Leads or participates in Duke University training development teams (including interdisciplinary curriculum teams) leading to the design, implementation and maintenance of a high quality training and professional development initiative.

Serves as senior lead trainer, providing advanced level educational training and professional development experiences to Duke University faculty and staff.

Teaches certain advanced level RCC classes, develops and coordinates Research Administration Academy training, assists the Director in developing and maintaining the AGM, RAI, Continuing Education and other RCC training initiatives.

Supervises the RCC Program Coordinator to ensure classes are scheduled and delivered in a timely manner.

Ensures that appropriate registration and tracking processes are employed.

Works with the Program Coordinator in the development of certain on line training initiatives.

Serves as project manager for multiple curriculum development efforts by coordinating team meetings, maintaining meeting records, verification of decisions and consensus among team members.

Supports the efforts of the Director in developing a comprehensive, multi faceted training approach for Duke University faculty and staff.

Assists the Director in coordinating monitoring outcomes with appropriate training and intervention strategies for compliance improvement.

Supervises administrative and logistics quality control for the LMS and associate systems process in support of RCC training and specifically the certification programs.

Provides general operations management under the direction of the RCC Director, including management of leave records and RCC budget.

Works with Director and AD, RCC Monitoring to integrate monitoring results into applicable training and communication.

Works with Director and AVP Finance/RCC Officer in support of policy development, interpretation, and implementation, as appropriate.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires the organizational, analytical and communication skills normally acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program. CRA preferred. Advanced degree in related area extremely valued.

Experience

Work requires a minimum of five years of experience related to the specific area of training, preferably with department based experience in performing the day to day activities in management. Candidates with experience in the following areas are favorable: grant management in a department setting; training and curriculum development for departmental staff; experience with the Duke University financial systems and/or clinical research environment, OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
