Occupational Summary

Manage and coordinate Duke University Office Products to include sales, rentals and repair of office equipment and machines.

Work Performed

Manage and coordinate a centralized Office Products program to provide the University community with high quality office machines and equipment and maintain financial control of equipment and services.

Develop and implement marketing programs to promote increased awareness of established office products programs and to achieve standardization of office equipment throughout the University and Medical Center; analyze user needs and submit recommendations designed to provide customer with increased savings, cost reductions, and effective and efficient support services. Maintain liaison with vendors and service representatives to ensure that office equipment and requirements meet established standards and that applicable policies and procedures are complied with; survey markets for latest trends in price, reliability, availability, delivery, and quality.

Supervise office products repair program, assist in development of increased capabilities for repairing electronic equipment.

Manage and coordinate the establishment of schedules, task assignments, and allocation of man hours and equipment to insure compliance with departmental commitments.

Prepare and analyze special reports and statistical data setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

Sustain cost recovery status for all component operations and ensure that prices throughout the program remain competitive in the marketplace.

Determine fiscal and personnel requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify, and reconcile expenditures of budgeted funds. Conduct and participate in national and local seminars and meetings to publicize and enhance operational activities and to keep aware of the latest technical advances in office products.

Manage various personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires organizational, analytical and communication skills normally acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree in Business or a related field.

Experience

Work requires a minimum of three years experience in office product sales, maintenance and repair to include supervision of operations and fiscal management.
