Occupational Summary

Plan, coordinate and implement a variety of Annual Giving programs within the Office of University Development to maintain a high level of financial support for Duke University programs and projects from alumni, students, faculty and friends.

Work Performed

Plan and coordinate a variety of fund raising activities and programs to promote the concept of Annual Giving among alumni, students, faculty and friends of Duke University; promote and coordinate fund raising activities for the various University graduate schools.

Plan and develop fund raising activities to include developing special solicitation materials and campaign aids, coordinating mass mailings and personally contacting potential contributors.

Coordinate Annual Giving activities with other areas and programs within University Development.

Enlist alumni volunteer workers to assist in various aspects of University fund solicitation programs.

Develop and maintain personal contact with prospects to develop their interest in Annual Giving programs and to provide information concerning the utilization of the gift at Duke University.

Represent the University before Alumni Association and other groups and individuals to explain fund raising activities supportive of University programs and projects.

Maintain records of solicitations and responses and prepare special reports and analyses illustrating current contribution trends, degree of goal achievement and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

Assist the Director, Annual Giving in formulating and planning development policies and procedures relative to Annual Giving; assist in the planning and preparation of budgetary recommendations and the analyses of personnel requirements.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
