Occupational Summary

Plan and manage cost accounting activities for designated areas of Duke University.

Work Performed

Preparation and negotiation of Duke's Facilities and Administrative (F&A) Cost Rate An F&A cost rate is calculated every year and negotiated roughly every four years.

Service Center Oversight Review and approve service center rate submissions, monitor for compliance with Federal and University guidelines, and assure breakeven status.

Cost Accounting Standards Board (CASB) Disclosure Statement (DS-2) Assure that the University's CASB DS-2 is kept up-to-date and submitted to Cost Allocation Services in a timely manner.

Year-end Financial Reporting Annually determine the allocation of University O&M, external interest, and depreciation to the major functions of the University.

Service Center GAP Make sure the University's service center GAP is kept up-to-date and in compliance with Federal regulations.

Subrecipient F&A Rate Reviews Review and negotiate F&A rate proposals for subrecipients who do not have a Federally negotiated F&A rate and who do not wish to take the de minimus rate of 10%.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration required; Preferred major in Accounting

Experience

At least five years of applicable experience, preferably in a university setting.
