Occupational Summary

Coordinate the Alumni Admissions Program to include proactive recruitment of qualified alumni children, coordination of related special events and management of the Alumni Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship Program.

Work Performed

Coordinate the operation of local interviewing committees to include directing committee involvement with the undergraduate admissions process, organizing new committees or change in leadership, and providing orientation sessions as necessary; recruit additional alumni volunteers to assist in program. Interview children of Duke alumni to evaluate potential for admittance to Duke undergraduate programs; advise parents and children regarding admissions procedure; participate with Undergraduate Admissions in the admissions decision process as it relates to alumni children. Coordinate the production of informational materials used by the Alumni Admissions Advisory committee including, but not limited to, the AAAC handbook and periodic newsletters.

Direct the Alumni Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship Program; present candidates for scholarship to the Alumni Scholarship Committee of the General Alumni Association's Board of Directors; maintain contact with and advise accepted scholars.

Conduct research, identification, cultivation and solicitation activities to raise funds from alumni and others for financial support for endowment scholarships.

Organize various social activities throughout the year such as alumni parents luncheon for alumni parents of new students, graduation brunch for alumni families of graduating seniors, annual alumni scholarship dinner and various receptions for accepted students and local alumni.

Prepare recommendations and monitor budgets for alumni admissions program and Alumni Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship.

Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

Monitor and evaluate the work of lower level employees.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires a knowledge and understanding of college experience and student life as well as analytical, communications, and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Experience

Work requires four years of experience in University administration, alumni affairs, admissions, student services or a related setting to become familiar with recruitment and program administration activities.
