Occupational Summary
Each OUE AVPs leads one OUE division: Experiential Education, Finance and Operations, Intellectual Community, Strategy and Communications, or Student Success.
Work Performed
Work collaboratively as a member of the OUE Senior Management Team (SMT) to develop and support the OUE's strategic priorities, discuss and determine optimal ways to execute strategy, and make operational policies and decisions.
Provide vision and executive leadership for division and divisional units in alignment with institutional missions and goals.
Provide leadership for fiscal management, assessment of programs and services, and activities that enhance our commitment to anti-racism and building a culture of equity and inclusion.
Support cross-divisional and cross-campus collaboration.
Represent OUE to campus and external partners (committees, task forces, development visits, university boards, stakeholder meetings, etc.) as needed.
Provide vision, strategy, and leadership for the OUE Division.
Oversee all programs under the auspices of the OUE Division.
Support and directly contribute to exceptional program delivery in each unit within the division.
Collaborate with Schools, Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, University Leadership, the Center for Civic and Community Engagement, etc., to build out and leverage existing undergraduate initiatives and to expand and foster undergraduate student programs.
Support the development of University policy updates that align with Duke's commitment to an integrated, whole-person approach to undergraduate student support and well-being.
Provide leadership, mentoring, and HR actions.
Ensures divisional compliance with U.S. and international laws, Duke policies, and industry standards concerning privacy and labor laws.
Undertake all HR actions needed on behalf of division (professional development conversations, searches for open staff positions, annual performance reviews, liaise with OUE Hub regarding payroll, etc.).
Engage the staff in team building and strategic planning efforts.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Master's degree is required. PhD strongly preferred.
Experience
Ten years in higher education administration and program development; previous supervisory experience; prior experience managing budgets.
