In the context of a care team, coordinate the scheduling and execution of clinical management and evaluation of children, adolescents and young adults.
Serve as a communication link between care providers (faculty, fellows, and extenders) and outpatients to include answering calls in clinic headquarters and returning patient phone calls when appropriate.
Consult with physicians concerning modifications in patient treatment plan; establish and maintain liaison between the patient's family and the treating physicians; define medical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patients and their families to allay fears and to obtain cooperation in gaining the maximum benefit from prescribed treatment.
Collect and evaluate clinical laboratory data regarding the medical plan of treatment including laboratory data and coordinate appropriate responses with the medical team/physician in a timely fashion.
Monitor receipt, collect and evaluate clinical laboratory data from outside hospitals and laboratories; consult with medical team/physicians concerning patient medical treatment plan and coordinate appropriate responses with the outside medical team/physician, in a timely fashion.
Interface with patients, families and referring physicians to schedule and coordinate clinical evaluations and medical services, including hospital admissions, clinic appointments, referrals, lab and radiological studies, including pre-operative services, outpatient procedures, and radiologic imaging with and without sedation or anesthesia. Call in prescription refills to pharmacies.
Monitor patient flow at the point of care in clinic including patient arrival and wait time in exam room and facilitate patient flow at each step of the care cycle, including lab and radiological studies. Provide patient and family education
Other projects to improve efficiency of patient care such as helping with pre-printed orders, keeping current and organized clinic materials in the clinic headquarters.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Bachelor's degree in Nursing. State of North Carolina license is also required.
Work requires at least two years of experience in nursing taking care of children, adolescents and young adults.
