Occupational Summary
Performs complex and specialized technical duties within a library setting. Exercises independent judgment in the application of guidelines for a wide variety of library operations. Requires in-depth knowledge of standard library practices and procedures.
Work Performed
Applies specialized knowledge to accomplish tasks and to identify and resolve varied and non-routine issues and problems. Responds to requests/issues that deviate from standard operating procedures through knowledge gained from previous experiences, independent judgment, and by consulting appropriate resources. Records, compiles, summarizes, and analyzes data. Performs simple and complex operations using the libraries' technology and materials. Participates in planning and coordinating operational activities and special projects with other departments within the library. Explains and interprets programs, policies, and procedures to meet the specific needs of users. Serves as a resource for specialized and non- routine technical questions and provides guidance in the interpretation and application of library rules and policies. Evaluates and implement workflows and procedures which ensure timely and accurate accomplishment of assigned tasks of the unit. Makes recommendations for staffing and equipment needs affecting budget preparation and may monitor expenditures of designated funds. Communicates information related to overall library operations. Performs office support tasks.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Experience
Required: Requires two years of library experience to obtain specialized knowledge of library systems and procedures; excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; able to work independently and as a member of a team; high proficiency using computer-based technology and ability to adapt to new technologies; ability to effectively organize and prioritize daily work; demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer services.
Preferred: Prior experience working in an academic research library, prior supervisory experience
