Occupational Summary

Coordinate all requests for presidential briefing materials and briefing materials for Duke University donors and prospects at the principal gifts level. Assist in preparation of briefings requested by other senior university leadership, such as Provost, Vice President, etc. This position directly reports to the head of Research and Constituency Development at University Development but also has an indirect reporting relationship to the Director of Principal Gifts at University Development. Attention to detail and accuracy is essential. Materials will be utilized by Director of Principal Gifts and senior university leadership.

Work Performed

Handle all requests for presidential briefing materials.

Act as primary author of the majority of presidential briefing materials; supervise and edit the work of a Development Research Analyst I assigned to assist with preparation of presidential briefing materials.

Consult with Director of Principal Gifts and development officers across the University and Medical Center to develop written strategies.

Coordinate with the Principal Gifts and President's Office on preparation and delivery guidelines.

Work closely with the Director of Principal Gifts and his/her staff to review, analyze, and increase the Principal Gifts prospect pool and report on findings.

Prepare reports on individuals or groups of principal gifts.

Analyze financial data to estimate prospects giving capacity.

Utilize a variety of resources to gather information on key prospects, including but not limited to: Board Ex, Corporate Affiliations, Lexis Nexus for Development Professionals, Wealth engine, Foundation Center, property deeds, internet and various publications, etc.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires the skills and knowledge normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Experience

Work generally requires three years of experience in development research or a related field. Work experience in research methodology is required.

OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
