Occupational Summary

Provide expert consultation within the broader learning team, taking design initiative on all aspects of course development. This role will function as a project manager to translate Duke's mission, vision, and values into tangible virtual, self-paced or eLearning solutions, collaborates with senior line management to plan and implement cultural supporting strategies of large-scale change initiatives and/or rollouts, through virtual or eLearning which are aligned with the long-range human resources strategic plan.

Work Performed

This role plans, creates, implements and manages training and development from an eLearning perspective. The position will be in charge of learning design and development efforts by applying knowledge of best practices in andragogy. Collaborate across the enterprise to create learning experiences that demonstrate sound adult learning strategies, produce desired learning outcomes, and develop targeted competencies. Thrive and succeed in a very collaborative, fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

Use multimedia technology and authoring tools to design and develop instructional materials. These materials will facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies in an effective and appealing manner. Provide expertise to clients through a virtual or eLearning capacity. Develop strategies for implementation plans and evaluation methods for delivery of virtual and eLearning programs and services virtually or through eLearning that meet common enterprise needs and operating units' unique requirements by:

Assessing business forces, trends and clients' requirements that impact Duke's strategy Aligning practice team's initiatives with best virtual and eLearning practices, strategic and operational results and priorities, senior leaders' vision, and cultural values of the institution. strategies and priorities.

Developing in-house and/or outsourced solutions to optimally allocate resources to address priorities.

Maintain and monitor course development, delivery, and administration work flow process as it relates to eLearning, and virtual course offerings.

Measuring and communicating the impact of the virtual learning, eLearning, self-paced learning. Creating and producing reports to show area development practice team's efforts, both the impact of the virtual eLearning and self-paced program deliverables and customer satisfaction. Develop the appropriate evaluation strategies and grooms' specific peers to utilize storyline, Camtasia and other eLearning tools as well as how to moderator and create appropriate reports.

Implement senior management strategy for the LMS with functional areas.

Perform higher-level administrative LMS functions such as importing data and assigning training using rules.

Performing usability testing.

Training functional-area administrators and instructors.

Representing the learner and user base with IT.

Research, test, and provide training on the functionality of the system.

Provide troubleshooting and support for the common users through the help desk.

Manage communication to the common user audience.

Report on the information included in the LMS database.

Test vendor-provided content.

Recommend improvements that would benefit service and customers.

Establish and normalize standard operating procedures of best practices for online design and course development.

Manage instructional design projects, eLearning and virtual programs from request to roll-out.

Design, develop, and create engaging virtual and eLearning online and classroom training using WebEx, zoom, storyline, articulate, Camtasia or other eLearning tools.

Evaluate the impact of training beyond level 1.

Use multiple authoring tools and related software programs such as Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, and Captivate.

Develops storyboards and scripts for e-learning and virtual live training.

Create material/media to support learning (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.).

Create and edit e-learning using Articulate Storyline.

Able to design and develop SCORM compliant e-learning.

Consults with Learning & Organization Development team for deployment of online Offerings.

Structures process and lays out program plan of deployment.

Manages communication and walkthroughs from virtual program perspective and has continuous dialogue regarding project.

Apply Adult Learning Methodologies and principles to all course creation.

Scope and estimate level of effort for project deliverables.

Devise creative solutions and strategies that meet the business needs and solve business problems.

Design and develop learning materials in accordance with established design models for instructor and virtual instructor-led training, multimedia, video, and other learning-related materials.

Consult with other instructional designers, portfolio managers, consultants, or subject matter experts regarding learning strategies, blended design, and business requirements that impact the learning needs and learning solutions initiatives.

Conduct analyses of target audience, conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts training requirements, and media requirements.

Create and run reports that show virtual learning efforts by area and departments.

Design training materials and assessments in adherence to brand standards.

Demonstrate high levels of motivation through meeting and working within established project budgets and timelines.

Exhibit solid interpersonal and communication skills that enable successful internal and external interaction in a variety of modes including face-to-face meetings, phone calls, phone conferences, virtual meetings, and written communication.

Participate in and lead special projects as required.

Work with internal subject matter experts to map out, develop and implement a user learning experience that is meaningful, impactful, and keeps up with technology trends.

Standardize process and has a process map out timeline that can be effectively communicated and checked off.

Effectively manage stakeholders, projects, resources, outside vendors, and consultants.

Entering courses, adding materials to courses in the LMS, providing rosters, and reconciling rosters for L&OD business partners in the LMS.

Creating, branding and marketing L&OD content, flyers, news briefs etc.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Requires a Master's Degree in Business, Human Resources, Learning Design, Adult Education, Training/Organization Development, or related field. Certification of CPLP (Certified Professional in Learning and Performance) strongly preferred.

Experience

Requires a minimum of 5 years of work experience in adult education to include any combination of facilitating, design, and professional development. Some work experience must include instructional design of learning solutions and skill development programs in eLearning format, as well as experience with a Learning Management System (LMS).
