Occupational Summary

Develop, coordinate, and provide support to faculty in uses of educational technologies in the curriculum and other programs within the University; manage the operation of audiovisual and tele classrooms in specified areas.

Work Performed

Develop, coordinate, advise on and manage support for the use of information technology in specified areas of the University; advise on opportunities, directions and strategies for implementing aspects of information technology as an instructional tool.

Create long range plans for the particular area that will identify, develop and implement services in support of innovative approaches in teaching using the latest developments in computer assisted instructional design; plan and teach workshops and courses for faculty on multimedia development applications and network tools.

Manage the operation of audiovisual and tele classrooms in the particular area and monitor usage; advise on the design and configuration of additional multimedia classrooms; develop and coordinate the technologies supporting distance learning and uses of educational technologies in support of various international programs.

Coordinate the development of world wide web materials to support educational programs of the specified area, working in conjunction with the computing services department throughout the University.

Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

Develop budgetary recommendations; systematize and standardize information on actual costs and evaluate the use of funds within specified programs.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this classification.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires knowledge of computer assisted instructional programs and materials normally acquired through a bachelors degree in educational media, instructional design or a related field.

Experience

Work generally requires three years experience in instructional design, instructional technology, multimedia technologies or a related area to acquire the ability to design and implement technology oriented educational programs or computer assisted instructional programs. A masters degree in educational media, instructional design or a related field may be substituted for experience on a 1:1 basis. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
