Occupational Summary

Provide direct clinical psychiatric care to undergraduate, graduate and professional students within a developmental framework for emerging adults. Provide psychiatric consultation as needed. Participate in the supervision and training of psychiatry residents and other trainees.

Work Performed

Provide clinical psychiatric care to students within a developmental framework for emerging adults.

Perform comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluations and provide crisis intervention, collaborative treatment planning, psychopharmacologic treatment, and individual and group psychotherapy to students.

Provide culturally informed care for domestic and international students with psychiatric needs that are particularly prevalent in university student populations including eating disorders, gender/sexuality issues, post-traumatic stress disorders, cross-cultural issues and substances use disorders.

Provide psychiatric consultations to CAPS colleagues as well as student health services staff, faculty, administrators, students, and families.

Participate on multidisciplinary treatment teams. Supervise and train advanced psychiatry residents.

Participate as needed in supervision and training of psychology and social work interns.

Participate in administrative activities including staff meetings, CAPS, Division of Student Affairs, and University committees and other duties as assigned by the Director and Clinical Director.

Participate in quality assurance and outcomes research.

Participate in CAPS after hours emergency on call rotation.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires an MD from an accredited medical school and completion of psychiatry residency in an accredited program. Must be board ligible in psychiatry and neurology and licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of North Carolina.

Experience

No experience required for candidates who meet the education/training requirements.
