Occupational Summary

Plan and coordinate a comprehensive fund raising program with individuals, corporations and foundations to raise funds to support a defined focus in a department; assume primary responsibility for selected fundraising projects and prospects as assigned.

Work Performed

Assist departmental administration in determining feasibility and funding strategies for new and ongoing programs; plan and establish goals consistent with the direction or overall objectives of the program.

Identify, cultivate, solicit and track gifts from individuals, corporations, government and foundation prospects to develop their interest and participation in specific fund raising projects and to provide information concerning the utilization of gifts; select and implement fund raising methodologies such as direct mail, written proposals, and ongoing solicitations. Assist in developing and implement policies and procedures related to gift acknowledgement, donor recognition, record keeping, communications and other related activities.

Maintain effective collecting, recording, accounting, acknowledgement and follow-up on all private gifts.

Develop appropriate communications such as fund-raising proposals, newsletters, brochures, and pamphlets to include editing and production of publications, web site and non-print communication projects.

Determine fiscal requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds.

May assign and supervise the work of staff and volunteers.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires the skills and knowledge normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Experience

3 years progressive fund raising/customer relations/marketing or sales and promotions experience in team environment. Proven verbal and written communication skills and computer experience with Windows environment. Occasional travel required.
