Occupational Summary

Rewrite, edit, or design graphics for presentations of clinical research data. Prepare for publication scientific reports, education materials, manuals, product or drug brochures and literature and revise existing literature. Assist in implementing communication strategies essential to the management of clinical research projects conducted by Principal Investigators here at Duke and for the promotion of Dukes clinical research expertise to pharmaceutical companies, device companies, biotechnology companies, and other medical organizations.

Work Performed

Assist in implementing communications strategies essential to the management of clinical trials research projects conducted by Principal Investigators.

Assist in creating patient educational materials and in-service materials that comply with the identity of a clinical research project.

Rewrite, edit, and/or design graphics for the presentation of clinical research data i.e. manuscripts on clinical studies and scientific reports, brochures, manuals, literature, and training materials for individuals involved in conducting a specific clinical trial.

Use existing guidelines and style sheets to write and lay out in servicing slide sets for clinical research project start-up.

Use existing guidelines and style sheets to create presentations that convey the results of clinical research projects to healthcare professionals at major national and international conference.

Assist in implementing communications strategies that promote Duke clinical research services to pharmaceutical companies, device companies, biotechnology companies, and other medical organizations.

Assist other Communications Specialists in creating materials that will promote Dukes clinical research services to outside sources using existing standards.

Create data collection tools, such as case report forms and databases, according to existing standards.

Provide assistance to other Communications Specialists, fellows, and faculty in conveying data clearly for manuscripts, abstracts, and poster and oral presentations.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, graphic design.
