Occupational Summary

Develop overall IT strategy and long range plans to provide adequate, accessible, and secure computing and information facilities to Medical Education.

Work Performed

Plan, direct, and supervise the IT/AV resources in Medical Education to include in house development, vended applications, documentation, training, user support, event and multimedia services.

Anticipate IT demands of school programs, development, and strategies.

Research plans, programs, and services to enhance the schools mission via the use of technology.

Incorporate external IT development and change into school practices and policies efficiently and effectively through the implementation of innovative curricular resources.

Oversee IT resource use, including developing and administering IT capital and operational budgets.

Develop long-range computing plans to include providing adequate and accessible computer facilities, improving networking of units, inclusion of computing technology in the curriculum, and provision for sufficient technical staff.

Maintain interface with departmental users in the selection and set up of major computing applications appropriate for supporting departmental activities; facilitate communication between users to develop information sources for meeting individual departmental computing needs.

Maintain computing standards relative to an overall strategy which provides an appropriate degree of standardization in a multi platform, multi campus environment.

Coordinate regularly with information technology staff supporting departmental computer users to ensure that technology, infrastructure and long range planning requirements are met and supported.

Represent the Medical School on various University committees.

Coordinate IT initiatives between the Medical School and other areas of the University.

Participate in and contribute to national higher education IT organizations on behalf of the Medical School.

Recommend various personnel actions including hiring and performance appraisals of information technology staff.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Work requires a Bachelor's degree.
