Occupational Summary
Supervise, coordinate and participate in the inventory accounting function of the Material Support Department to include monitoring and analyzing the status of all inventory asset accounts, reviewing and implementing consistent inventory record procedures and preparing reports reflecting current and projected trends in stock usage, storage and ordering.
Work Performed
Supervise and coordinate the maintenance and reconciliation of the inventory accounting system with the University General Accounting Ledger to include resolving accounting problems associated with the ordering, delivery and payment of inventory stock.
Perform cost benefit analyses to assess cost of ordering and storage of stock versus usage levels and volume discounts; establish minimum and maximum stock levels in accordance with cost benefit analyses and safety and shelf life limitations.
Maintain interface with Internal Audit and Storeroom Operations to plan, schedule and coordinate annual and periodic physical counts of all inventories and to facilitate periodic audit review.
Maintain interface with vendors, departments, and accounting personnel to facilitate and expedite the ordering of materials, payment of invoices, authorization of new stock items and the withholding of payment to vendors as necessary.
Plan and schedule work for the inventory accounting section of the Material Support Department ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate staffing and space for subsequent performance of duties.
Perform various personnel functions to include hiring, training, performance appraisal, promotions, transfers vacation schedules and disciplinary actions.
Determine fiscal requirements of the area and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Work requires knowledge of mathematical and accounting principles usually acquired through two years post secondary education in accounting or a related business field.
Experience
Work requires three years of clerical accounting or related experience to acquire practical knowledge of inventory transactions and record- keeping requirements. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
