Occupational Summary
Direct the planning, implementation and administration of development and alumni affairs activities for the Duke University Divinity School.
Work Performed
Direct the administration of development and alumni activities for the Divinity School to include the annual fund, capital gifts, corporate gifts, major gifts, foundation proposals, and special projects such as telethons.
Maintain liaison with local churches and general church agencies to develop their interest and participation in the Divinity Schools fund raising and alumni activities.
Assist the Dean in matters related to institutional development and long range planning for the Divinity School; assist with activities related to communications and external affairs.
Maintain interface with the Divinity Schools Board of Visitors, Dean's Club and Alumni Council; assist in the development of other institutional support groups.
Maintain liaison with the University Offices of Development and Alumni Affairs to coordinate efforts.
Direct various personnel actions of assigned employees including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers, and vacation schedules.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
Experience
Work requires seven years experience in alumni affairs, public relations, fund raising, sales and promotions, marketing, student activities or a related field in order to acquire skills necessary to administer alumni affairs activities and to coordinate general fund raising for the Divinity School. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
