Occupational Summary

Direct the activities of Auxiliary Services Finance Department to include the administration, coordination and analysis of financial policies, procedures and planning.

Work Performed

Direct the activities of Auxiliary Services Finance Department in support of the Assistant Vice President, Auxiliaries; analyze and establish financial policies and procedures to fulfill University divisional and departmental requirements.

Supervise Assistant Directors and appropriate Managers in operation of their respective functional duties within the financial structure.

Coordinate development of annual budgets for each department and prepare a consolidated divisional budget.

Monitor and report on financial performance of individual departments and the division as a whole; recommend needed corrective actions based on analysis.

Manage the use of departmental betterments funds; evaluate and approve capital expenditures before submission to Assistant Vice President, Auxiliaries; evaluate and maintain capital acquisition plans.

Direct the administration of the Auxiliaries Contract Office and manage applications of the Duke Card Program.

Participate in development of both divisional goals and long-term departmental objectives.

Analyze and evaluate all contracts, business proposals and special projects; review financial implications and advise appropriate officials.

Act as primary contact with the Officers of the Universitys Administrative Services Division on all aspects of Auxiliary Services financial status.

Develop program specifications and strategies for installation of accounting or inventory related computer systems; assist the Director of Auxiliaries Information Systems in the design, formation and implementation of selected equipment and software applications.

Serve as a resource to Assistant Vice President, Auxiliaries, departmental directors and University officials on financial matters including analysis, planning and strategy formulation.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
