Occupational Summary

Coordinate and produce an array of multimedia rich projects for University Communications and their respective audiences. Develop high- value content to span platforms showcasing Duke for publicizing the University, its programs, activities, faculty, students and staff.

Work Performed

Produce, in a collaborative team environment, high production value bodies of work which show the University's work of scholarship, research, and campus life.

Discuss media production needs with team to determine program content and structure; research and assist in writing program scripts, storyboards and additional assets.

Coordinate and direct multimedia projects on deadlines; supervise production to include scheduling personnel and support activities; coordinate production of artwork to include titles and animations; contract for professional services; direct location shooting, sound recording, editing, and completion.

Participate in the development of project ideas, production of scripts, capture and motion media projects including original footage and animation. Participation is encouraged and expected from ideation through completion.

Preview videos with teams and allocate appropriate time for editing.

Collaborate with colleagues in University Communications and throughout the University to elevate each other's work and develop projects to advance Duke's communications goals.

Assist in teaching media workshops and educational programs to train participants in the mechanics and application of still and motion media; advise faculty, staff and clients concerning application of audiovisual equipment and methods.

Maintain inventory of required cinematographic supplies and equipment; evaluate new equipment and techniques for still and motion media application; recommend purchase of new equipment and supplies; perform routine maintenance on photographic, sound and related equipment.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires an understanding of the production of still and motion media projects in order to coordinate and direct the production of such projects, normally acquired through a college degree in a media production area.

Experience

Work requires one year of directly relevant experience.
