Occupational Summary
Plan, coordinate and implement activities in Alumni Relations for major programmatic areas such as reunions, alumni clubs, and academic programs to promote active alumni participation in programs and events and provide renewed contacts with the University.
Work Performed
Plan and coordinate a variety of Alumni Relations activities and programs to promote active alumni participation in programs and events and provide renewed contacts with the School; direct and supervise activities in support of major programmatic areas of responsibility such as Alumni Weekend, International Alumni conferences and events; and off- campus events of the alumni organizations and local organizations throughout the country.
Establish and maintain contact with alumni to assist in planning and implementing appropriate activities; receive and respond to requests for information and assistance from alumni; identify, recruit and train alumni and alumni committees in appropriate policies; provide liaison between alumni and various University departments; evaluate alumni participation in programs and activities and make changes as appropriate.
Foster and maintain productive relationships with other units within the University including, but not limited to, the development officers for the University, Medical Center, and professional schools.
Supervise the preparation of publications, informational materials and other communications to further the Alumni Relations objectives; prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
Conduct research, identification cultivation and solicitation activities to raise funds from alumni and others for financial support of specific needs as assigned; manage activities of special gift giving clubs at the School; actively seek out new members; recommend, implement and manage other recognition programs as appropriate.
Develop budgetary recommendations; systematize and standardize information on actual costs and evaluate the use of funds within assigned programs.
Recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisal, transfers, promotions and vacation schedules.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
Experience
Work requires five years experience in alumni affairs, public relations, fund raising, sales and promotions, marketing, student activities or a related field in order to acquire skills necessary to administer, coordinate and/or participate in general fund raising activities and proposal development. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
