Occupational Summary

Analyze and coordinate the installation, maintenance and planning of computer networks; serve as technical user liaison regarding network communications.

Work Performed

Analyze and coordinate the installation, maintenance and planning of computer networks; serve as a technical user liaison regarding network communications.

Evaluate, test and recommend new data communication hardware and software.

Maintain interface with vendor representatives to resolve software and hardware problems.

Prepare and maintain procedure manuals and documentation for internal use.

Develop and conduct training for staff in the installation, operation, and maintenance of network communication equipment. Develop and maintain network software for use with personal computers and mainframe/personal computer interaction.

Maintain liaison with representatives of other University data processing operations, professional organizations and equipment manufacturers to ensure utilization of current principles and techniques.

Participate in the development of long range planning for new and ongoing network communication projects.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires an Associates Degree in Data Processing.

Experience

Two years of experience in network communications or related experience. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering may be used to offset this experience requirement.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
