Occupational Summary

Provides leadership for the development, implementation, and assessment of programs and services in support of the strategic plan for Student Affairs in one or more key focus areas. May serve as the director of and oversee operations of one or more offices in the Division of Student Affairs. Serves as a lead representative for the division, interfacing with senior University officials, students, parents, faculty and staff, alumni, and other key constituencies. Effectively connects the vision and implementation of strategic initiatives and programs with the interests of students, alumni, donors, and off-campus partners. Develops, oversees and implements outreach efforts to students, faculty and staff related to support services provided.

Work Performed

Provide leadership for the development, implementation and assessment of activities, programs, trainings, and support services that significantly enhance the undergraduate and graduate/professional student experiences in assigned area(s) of focus.

Represent Student Affairs and student-facing interests in collaborative partnerships with deans, directors, department heads, faculty, administrators, and staff, including through service on campus-wide committees and global initiatives.

Serve as a senior leader within Student Affairs. Support division directors and others in the development of cross-department projects, programs, and services that support the Division's vision and mission. Lead critical and collaborative projects that advance the Vice President/Vice Provost's priorities.

Oversee plans, processes, operations and staff for one or more assigned offices within the Division of Student Affairs (e.g. Office of New Student Family Programs, Office of Student Conduct, or Campus Offices for Housing & Residence Life). Supervise personnel including the establishment of goals and objectives, performance feedback and coaching, and hiring/termination.

Develop comprehensive communications strategies in coordination with Student Affairs communications team, for promoting awareness and understanding of key initiatives/programs to multiple on-campus and off- campus partners and stakeholders

Support the VP/VP of Student Affairs in developing and executing a fundraising strategy for strategic priorities/programs. Oversee stewardship efforts for gifts in area of oversight. May represent Student Affairs with prospective donors.

Remain current with trends, developments and best practices in social justice education, intercultural training, international education, and research. Monitor advances in the field to integrate information, knowledge, and technology tools into department practices and procedures. Represent the University and Student Affairs at professional meetings and conferences.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

A master's degree in education or a related field.

Experience

At least six years of experience as an administrator with responsibility for a wide range of process, project, policy, budgetary, and supervisory responsibilities within an organization

Demonstrated leadership experience in an educational setting with an ability to serve as an effective advocate for student success.

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
