Occupational Summary
Perform a variety of student services duties under supervision such as recruitment, registration, maintaining student records, analysis of student need and eligibility for financial aid, and coordinating programs to enable University students to explore career opportunities.
Work Performed
Counsel and advise students and prospective students on such matters as admissions, financial aid, academic requirements, career development, and other campus activities.
Assist in the design, development, and implementation of various program activities for the campus community; recommend changes in policies and procedures to improve program area.
Establish and maintain liaison with business, social agencies, schools and hospitals to expand and promote career and internship opportunities to University students and alumni; develop contacts in new areas to meet student and alumni needs.
Conduct information sessions, interviews, seminars and workshops and prepare various written material including books, pamphlets, and brochures to provide program information, guidance on resume preparation, interviewing techniques and job search strategies.
Correspond with prospective students, applicants, University alumni, career counselors and others seeking information on admissions standards and academic and non academic programs following established procedures and precedents.
Analyze financial information submitted by applicants utilizing established federal and University standards and guidelines to determine financial needs; select candidates and determine type and amount of financial aid to be awarded.
Plan and manage registration process for students in the fall, spring and summer semesters; develop written materials, policies and procedures in coordination with Associate Dean or Director.
Develop and maintain computer database for administrative reports and tracking, budgets, employment statistics, career services reports, course listings and mailing lists.
Assist and participate with other staff members having special project responsibilities with the coordination of activities designed to accomplish established objectives.
Train and supervise work of lower level employees, students and volunteers as assigned.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
Experience
Work requires one year of experience in a placement, financial aid, admissions, or other student services function to become familiar with the student services area of specialty.
