Occupational Summary

Develop, plan, coordinate, implement and promote a variety of programs and activities to enhance relationships for Duke University Medical Center with its physician family, including School of Medicine graduates, house staff alumni, current house staff and students, and faculty. Manage assigned administrative functions for the Office of Medical Alumni Affairs.

Work Performed

Plan, coordinate, implement, and direct a variety of alumni affairs activities and programs to promote active alumni participation in programs and events and provide opportunities for renewed contacts and enhanced relationships with Duke University Medical Center; direct and supervise activities in support of assigned programmatic areas such as reunions or off campus events.

Establish and maintain contact with constituents including School of Medicine graduates, house staff alumni, current medical students and house staff, and, as appropriate, faculty; foster and maintain productive relationships with clinical chairs, division chiefs and Medical Center faculty.

Provide information to programmatic development officers on potential prospects from constituent groups.

Plan, coordinate and implement a variety of Medical Alumni Association components involving promotion, relationship enhancement research, meeting preparation and special events; coordinate Medical Alumni Council meetings and supervise preparation of meeting materials; coordinate and manage special fund raising projects for Medical Alumni Council; coordinate and manage special projects and programs to target special constituencies and promote constituent development.

Travel and represent Duke University Medical Center with alumni at medical society meetings.

Manage assigned administrative functions of the Office of Medical Alumni Affairs; determine fiscal and personnel requirements of office and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditure of funds; recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Experience

Work requires five years experience in alumni affairs, public relations, fund raising, sales and promotions, marketing, student activities or a related field in order to acquire skills necessary to administer, coordinate and/or participate in a Medical Alumni programs.
