Occupational Summary
Manage the activities involved in providing prospect research and screening services to support Duke University's development and campaign efforts.
Work Performed
Manage the collection, analyzing, interpretation and documentation of information on individuals, corporations and foundations in support of University wide development activities utilizing department files, University and city libraries, electronic data bases and other sources as appropriate; prepare top level briefings as needed.
Support senior management with screening services, including campaign steering committee reporting projects, regional campaign council screening efforts, and other school, unit and campaign screening activities; perform data analysis and reporting on constituency possibilities and development and campaign progress and effectiveness for use by senior management.
Provide guidance for participants at screening sessions as needed; manage screening/research rating/prospect management system assignment process, and ensure all screening discoveries are rated and added to prospect management system as appropriate.
Design and develop studies and reports, using research and screening tools, on Duke University prospect constituencies, including analysis of potential for giving of various alumni for key projects.
Develop campaign prospect/proposal/results reports in conjunction with others as appropriate; assist in the development of the prospect management system and prospect tracking capabilities of applicable software.
Help to affect long range development and fund raising plans regarding special issues or constituencies and to analyze effectiveness of constituency based fund raising by gathering data and developing reports.
Develop processes to enhance the prospect management system; prepare for and attend prospect management committee meetings; help design format for and attend new prospect management strategy sessions.
Working with other development units, serve as key Major Gifts liaison for all information management issues pertaining to computer systems and programs.
Assigns new prospective donors to development officers.
Direct various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Work requires analytical, organization and communication skills, generally acquired through a bachelor's degree program.
Experience
Work requires the ability to review and analyze data, systems and procedures to support development initiatives, generally acquired through three years of related experience.
