Occupational Summary

Provide administrative leadership for assigned services and program areas, which includes coordination of external relations, student services, and general program management.

Work Performed

Provide leadership for services and programs for students and other key constituencies.

Oversee day to day operations of a Student Affairs unit including programming budgets, facilities operations, and staff supervision.

Meet with staff to plan and schedule work and ensures adequate staffing and resources for events and programs.

Lead the design, implementation and assessment of programs and services for a Student Affairs unit.

Responsible for key programming and/or service initiatives for the department.

Cultivate partnerships with University academic departments, administrative units, and community organizations to ensure the consistent delivery of high quality services to students and key constituents.

Ensure that learning outcomes are established and assessment plans implemented.

Initiates and/or oversees workshops and other training initiatives for students, faculty and staff in a specific field of expertise, e.g., cross cultural, student development, etc.

Keep abreast of latest relevant research.

Advise student leaders on organizational, business, leadership, legal liabilities, financial administration and other issues including interpretation of University policies and procedures.

Develop, monitor and analyze budgets including, but not limited to, projecting expenditures and revenue.

Prepare financial and operational reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

Represent the program on University and professional organizations, associations, committees and/or by presenting programs at professional meetings and conferences as appropriate.

Train and supervise work of lower level employees, students, and volunteers as assigned.

Recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, promotions, transfers, performance appraisals, and vacation schedules.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires analytical, organizational and communication skills generally acquired through completion of a master's degree program.

Experience

Work generally requires four years experience in personnel, college or university administration, or a related field to acquire skills necessary to provide program management, advising and general administrative support.
