Occupational Summary
Functions as a key member of the Compensation management team. Under general direction of the Associate Director, Compensation leads the project management of complex compensation projects whose breadth spans the University, Health System, and Schools of Medicine/Nursing. Provides analysis and insight to solve challenging problems and identify opportunities, such as modeling CBA proposals and on-going data analysis related to FLSA and related compliance activities. Develops and presents key compensation metrics including those in evaluating needs, outcomes, and ROI related institutional pay actions. Supports Associate Director, Compensation in advising University and Health System managers related to Duke's multi-state/international HR matters as needed. Responsible for contract negotiation and leading the day-to-day administration of Duke's salary survey warehouse tool. Supervises assigned staff. Functions as a subject matter expert related to Duke's payroll systems as they relate to compensation.
Work Performed

Functions as a subject matter expert related to Duke's payroll systems as they relate to compensation.
Responsible for contract negotiation and leading the day-to-day administration of Duke's salary survey warehouse tool.
Performs and presents key compensation metrics including those in evaluating needs, outcomes, and ROI related institutional pay actions.
Supports Associate Director,Compensation in advising University and Health System managers related to Duke's multi-state/international HR matters as needed.
Develop project schedules, monitor progress, and complete projects on schedule. Produce periodic status reports to direct project participants and to update management on progress. Prepare reports with issue identification, alternative solutions and clearly stated recommendations. Convey project findings in a compelling manner through the preparation of reports and customer presentations.
Develop proposed project budgets and maintain project expenditures within budget. Produces periodic budget and expenditure reports.
Oversee and coordinate the work of suppliers, contractors, and consultants working on project tasks which enhance current and future compensation programs and business processes. Ensure completed tasks meet cost, quality, and schedule objectives.
Ensure the development and maintenance of high quality project documentation including contracts, change orders, specifications, budgets, expenditure records, schedules, correspondence, transmittals, memos, minutes, reports, and other project files.
Act as the Human Resources representative in providing oral and written direction to internal service providers and external consultants.
Develop and interpret specifications, scopes of work, and contracts where applicable with external consultants.
Negotiate contract change orders. Evaluate for accuracy invoices from suppliers or consultants.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Bachelor's degree in a Human Resources or business related field. Master's degree or CPP preferred.
Experience
Six years of compensation experience including the development and implementation of major compensation projects; or seven years of progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience with multiple discipline project management in a complex administrative setting.
