Occupational Summary

Assist the Director and Associate Directors in planning, developing, implementing and coordinating foreign academic programs and exchanges of the Duke University Foreign Academic Programs; coordinate the program at the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome; liaise with the managing committee on policy issues and handle all day to day operations.

Work Performed

Manage the program at the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies; interface with the managing committee on selection of students and faculty and policy making decisions; coordinate the day to day logistics of the program with the staff in Rome.

Participate in implementing and coordinating foreign academic programs and exchanges on the basis of consultation with Duke departments and individual program directors; make on site evaluations of programs; accompany groups on programs as needed; arrange for course and faculty approval for Duke programs abroad.

Assist in advising students on matters related to global education programs; conduct freshman orientation meetings, receptions, and country briefing and preprogram meetings; maintain liaison with Registrars Office concerning transfer credits.

Implement a promotion/publicity program for the Foreign Academic Programs to include writing, designing and preparing brochures, letters and other promotional materials.

Prepare operational reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions; participate in short and long range planning for programs.

Maintain Global Education library; maintain and update various forms and information materials.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires knowledge of academic program planning, development and implementation generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Experience

Work requires two years of experience in an academic and/or administrative capacity to become familiar with various academic, co curricular, programmatic and/or administrative activities.
