Occupational Summary

Assist in the day to day management of the computing services and resources to promote the efficient and effective use of capital and human resources; direct the activities of assigned areas.

Work Performed

Coordinate and participate in projects designed to raise the effective use of computing resources; plan and coordinate work for the group of departmental representatives; ensure proper distribution of work assignments, staffing levels, and logistics.

Plan and manage an integrated database model for equipment records; serve as liaison with other University offices to integrate appropriate information records.

Manage reconditioning and reallocation processes; coordinate and implement development of critical component replacement plans; serve as a liaison between departments in the pooled use of assets and transfer of recycled equipment.

Develop and recommend appropriate standards for computing operations; maintain communication between Office of Information Technology to provide transfer of prototype standards between operating units.

Manage the function for assigned areas; provide technical expertise as needed on complex computing issues. Prepare operational reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

Determine fiscal requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify, and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds.

Recommend and/or provide input for various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers, and vacation schedules. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires a Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, or a computer related field or the equivalent course work or technical training.

Experience

Work requires 2 years progressive experience in a computer related field. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
