Occupational Summary

This senior practitioner develops Learning & Organization Development's team strategies and operations plans to achieve results in support of clients' performance-related initiatives for Duke University and Health System. The Team Leader provides leadership to the consulting team and interfaces with senior leaders to align the team's initiatives with operating priorities. This senior professional collaborates with the Director to plan, implement, and evaluate institution-wide change rollouts.

Work Performed

Translates Duke's mission, vision, and values into tangible HR processes, organization wide change efforts, and business unit interventions.

Collaborates with senior line management to plan and implement cultural supporting strategies of large scale change initiatives and/or rollouts, which are aligned with the long range human resources strategy and work culture task force recommendations for Duke.

Provides consulting services and expertise to senior management clients. Develops strategies for implementation plans and evaluation methods for delivery of programs and services that meet common enterprise needs and operating units unique requirements by:

Assessing business forces, trends and clients requirements that impact Dukes strategies and priorities.

Integrating best practices in profit and nonprofit sectors to develop appropriate OD plans to meet long range and/or immediate needs.

Aligning practice teams initiatives with best practices, strategic and operational results and priorities, senior leaders vision, and cultural values of the institution.

Identifying common performance requirements and development needs across Dukes customer base.

Defining solutions for development issues from a holistic and collaborative HR perspective.

Facilitating the use, engagement and work with outside consultants for the senior leaders of the institution.

Developing in house and/or outsourced solutions to optimally allocate resources to address priorities.

Measuring and communicating the impact of the practice teams consulting efforts, both the impact of program deliverables and customer satisfaction.

Develops the appropriate evaluation strategy and teaches others how to apply the four levels of evaluation to clients performance initiatives.

Performs HR and management responsibilities for consulting team including but not limited to:

Managing, leading, and developing employees in customer centric model.

Designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating professional, management, leadership and executive learning.

Building and sustaining a team of trusted advisors who work strategically with senior leaders to seize business and organizational opportunities and to close performance gaps.

Managing @ Duke and Leading @ Duke.

Managing Open Enrollment

Developing, implementing, and evaluating toolkit for function, including strategies, processes, methodologies, and tools.

Keeping abreast of learning and OD trends and next generation processes, practices, tools, and templates for appropriate application at Duke.

Conducts continuing research and seeks best practices of leadership development and management consulting at Duke.

Engages in personal career development activities of self and team, especially related to strategic execution, change management, and evaluation methodologies.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Master degree required. Master degree in Organizational Development, Organization Behavior Adult Learning or Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related field strongly preferred.

Experience

Minimum of four to seven years of experience in increasingly responsible positions in human resources, organizational development, change management, management consulting and/or related fields.

Qualifications/Competencies:

Experience in managing, leading, and learning and organizational development staff.

Ability to convert knowledge of university, health system, and HR goals, strategies, metrics, targets, initiatives, and results into learning and OD consulting opportunities.

Experience in learning and organization development consulting in complex organizations with senior leaders.

Experience in design, development, delivery, and evaluation of professional, management, leadership and executive learning.

Experience in strategic, operational, and project management.

Experience in building and sustaining trusting relationship with customers and partners.

Excellent written and verbal skills.
