Occupational Summary

This position manages and provides overall leadership for all DTRI operations and is accountable to DTMI leadership for all operational aspects of DTRI function.

Work Performed

Assists the Director in the development of the DTRI mission, vision, strategy, and goals.

Represents DTRI in a variety of external forums including industry meetings, professional association meetings, and public private partnerships in order to foster the cultivation of industry relationships which may benefit the goals of DTRI.

Develops and implements a variety of marketing and communication strategies designed to increase awareness and recognition of DTRIs goals and achievements both internally and externally.

Directs the development of the DTRI website to meet operational and communication needs.

Oversees the work of project leaders. Provides regular reports to senior management on all projects and strategic initiatives.

Ensures that appropriate project documentation is maintained in order to meet organizational needs and all applicable requirements.

Identifies operational problems, issues, and obstacles at the organizational level based on metrics data, internal audit reports, and input from faculty, functional group leaders, project leaders, research partners, and NIH.

Analyzes patterns and trends, prioritizes opportunities for improvement, and facilitates efforts to implement enhancements to processes and systems.

Provides recommendations to leadership regarding all major strategic and financial decisions and oversees the implementation of decisions.

Collaborates with the operational leaders of other DTMI components to ensure a seamless experience for faculty and staff interacting across the translational research continuum.

Oversees and directs the supervision of all operational staff and authorizes various personnel actions, including, but not limited to, hiring, performance evaluations, promotions, transfers, vacation schedules and disciplinary action in concert with organizational policies and practices.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Bachelors Degree required. Prefer candidates with Masters Degree in scientific discipline.

Experience

The position requires prior experience in biomedical research settings including CRO, pharmaceutical, medical device and biotechnology industries. Ideal candidate would have experience in leadership of both academic and corporate environments.

The position requires proven competencies listed below, normally acquired by 10 or more years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare or medical products research & development.

Skills

Business acumen and experience at a senior leadership level.

P&L management experience Impeccable personal integrity.

Strong organizational, planning, prioritization, negotiation, and decision making skills.

Proficiency with workflow analysis and process improvement
