Occupational Summary

Work with senior academic and administrative officers in support of the Budgets, Planning and Institutional Research group. The position will play an important role in institutional analysis, with a wide research field including data from administrative systems as well as surveys.

Work Performed

Work with BPIR colleagues and other administrative officers in support of financial management, institutional research and/or institutional planning efforts in the form of analysis, reporting, data exploration, and interpretation.

Work with internal colleagues to support ongoing budget and financial analysis activities. Help design, develop and maintain the BPIR group public communications including website and newsletter.

Respond to ad hoc queries from students, faculty, other offices within the institution, and external data requests.

Assist in interpreting and reporting on results of institutional surveys of students, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff.

Meet with students, faculty, and administrators to discuss and explain research findings as needed.

Assist in other Institutional Research projects, as requested.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires advanced knowledge of both statistical and/or financial data analysis and interpretation, acquired through a BA in a related field.

Experience

Requires 3 years of relevant experience.

Skills

The position requires initiative, curiosity, effective communication skills and excellent writing abilities.

A strong statistical background with demonstrated ability to analyze quantitative data is essential.

Experience with statistical software is required; preferably SPSS.

Strong ability with Excel or 1 2 3 also required.

Proficiency with web design software, such as Dreamweaver, and web survey tools, such as Viewsflash, strongly preferred.

Knowledge of database, SQL, and CAD software desirable.
