Occupational Summary

Position is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating the Duke Environmental Leadership Program, including executive education courses, certificate programs, the DEL Master of Environmental Management (DEL MEM), and community outreach.

Work Performed

Serve as a member of the Deans administrative leadership team for NSOE, providing input regarding school decisions.

As directed by the Dean, participate on committees leading various NS initiatives. Participate in Education Committee meetings as a representative of the DEL program.

Report to the Dean of the NSOE and collaborate with faculty director of the DEL program.

Recruit and coordinate instructors; determine program ideas, themes, dates and frequency; review and update program policies; prepare faculty for online teaching; develop online teaching manuals and student handbooks; coordinate and develop on campus sessions; identify teaching schedule each academic year.

Manage and address student issues, concerns, and program requirements. Serve as program advisor for students in DEL MEM program. Process student visa requests.

Coordinate with NS and other University departments to ensure successful student management and proper implementation of degree and non degree programs and to identify areas of efficiencies.

Develop and lead successful recruiting and marketing strategies for all programs, including advertising, website development and virtual and in person information sessions.

Lead comprehensive promotion strategies to include development of marketing strategies, design and preparation of brochures, postcards, posters, application materials, the website, and other publicity material for publication and circulation in specialized or mass media.

Establish and implement policies and procedures that enhance and support the multiple functions of the program.

Ensure requirements set forth by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) are met to maintain accreditation, including management of online assessment system.

Address deficiencies in a timely and thorough manner.

Research and develop new program initiatives, both domestic and international.

Take leadership for continual improvement to existing programs.

Determine fiscal requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify, and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds for all fund codes and grants/endowments.

Manage expenditures in accordance with approved budget.

Identify strategies to increase revenue and reduce expenses while maintaining a quality continuing education program.

Prepare applications for grants and contracts to include development of budgets; administer departmental grants and contracts in accordance with University policies and sponsors# requirements regarding records, reports, controls and conditions governing expenditures of funds.

Serve as principal investigator (PI) and manage and facilitate existing multi year contract to provide continued executive education to client.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires management, communications, analytical, research and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree program. Master's degree preferred.

Experience

Work requires the ability to plan and administer programs and lead program activities within a specific functional area, generally acquired through four years of related experience. Program/project management experience and budget management experience is required.
