Occupational Summary

Oversee the day-to-day operations of DukeEngage which provides opportunities for Duke undergraduates to tackle real-world problems and develop the valuable skills and knowledge that result from an immersive experience connected to the academic mission of the university. This position supervises all DukeEngage staff and reports to the Associate Director of the Kenan Institute for Ethics.

Work Performed

Develop and implement efficient operations to support student participation in summer or semester long immersive experiences that contribute to the public good locally or globally, is connected to academic pursuits and is sponsored by Duke faculty and/or initiated by students under faculty or staff mentorship; Oversee all finance, administration and programmatic aspects of DukeEngage.

Work with the DukeEngage Faculty Director to facilitate faculty participation in DukeEngage by streamlining policies and processes to minimize administrative burden, providing adequate staffing to support faculty-led efforts, and creating effective incentives to attract faculty leads.

Collaborate with existing internal and external partnerships and programs to develop or highlight opportunities and attract quality applicants.

Work with KIE leadership, the Faculty Director and the program's advisory board to develop strategic plans for DukeEngage and make strategic decisions about the nature of the work and the values that underlie it; oversee implementation and assessment of those plans.

Oversee risk management and quality assurance by implementing best practices and working with faculty to review programs regularly; Prepare reports and analyses, evaluating program success as well as areas for enhancement. Analyze users by demographic categories, types of programs utilized and related costs.

Provide leadership to staff by supervising all programmatic staff. Direct various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, and transfers.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a Master's degree program. PhD preferred.

Experience

Five years of experience in international based program development, assessment, research or related work required.

OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
