Occupational Summary

Develop, implement, and lead a comprehensive, strategic communications plan with responsibility for all communications processes within Divinity. Ensure the strategic communications plan is consistent with institutional-wide strategies.

Work Performed

Develop, direct, and supervise the implementation of communications strategies. Plan and implement policies and procedures for all areas/phases of communication. Advise leadership, faculty, and staff on the effective use of communications.

Negotiate and prepare proposals for new communications-related projects. Determine fiscal requirements; prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify, and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds. Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, trends and appropriate recommendation or expenditure of budgeted funds.

Supervise and develop communications staff. Direct personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, firing, coaching, disciplining, and conducting performance appraisals.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein. The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this classification. Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires communication, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program in Journalism, Communications, English or a related discipline. A Master's degree preferred.

Experience

Work requires seven years experience in marketing, communications, or a related discipline to include a minimum of two years experience in the higher education field.
