Occupational Summary

Assist with management and coordination of event and theater services within designated facilities to include support of student and University events with operations, personnel and customer service activities.

Work Performed

Coordinate planning, management and implementation of events within designated spaces. Work with staff to provide a customer-focused experience for constituents. Assist in the management of event related activities including client billing, payment of vendor invoices, dispute resolution with clients and vendors, written pre-event confirmation of vendor services and scheduling.

Schedule and coordinate University and other services for events. With the consultation of supervisor, negotiate contracts or agreements for non-University suppliers.

Supervise student employees in support of programs and events. Coordinate and lead training for new student staff.

Work with supervisor to create policies and procedures regarding departmental operations to facilitate effective resource utilization, standardized policies, and consistent information.

Develop network of potential clients and colleagues to enhance the public presence of the University. Provide event-planning workshops for student organizations.

Convene ongoing meetings to ensure appropriate resources are secured for successful implementation of events.

Perform related duties as assigned or required to meet University, division and departmental goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Experience

Work requires one year of experience in the arts, special events, conference planning, student activities or a related field.
