Occupational Summary

Manage and coordinate the business and service programs of the Bryan Center Desk and University Box Office; manage and coordinate front of house operations for performing arts and other events in campus theaters.

Work Performed

Manage and coordinate business and service programs of the Bryan Center Desk and University Box Office; manage front of house operations for performing arts and other events in campus theaters.

Determine fiscal requirements, prepare budgetary recommendations and monitor and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds; develop and implement service fees and billing procedures to recover expenses; recommend annual capital equipment replacement.

Manage handling of cash revenue, ticket inventory, and final reconciliation of shows and events.

Provide technical consultation for specialized ticket management computer software and hardware; develop and manage programs for internet ticket sales and DukeCard interface. Coordinate and participate in public relations activities such as the production of brochures, bulletins, newsletters, and other publications; assist client organizations regarding press releases, advertising, communications with customers, and timetables for publicity.

Represent Box Office and Information Desk to the University and the public; serve on committees within the University and with professional organizations as appropriate. Act as liaison with other departments and the community to organize business operations and accomplish objectives.

Provide consultation and establish standards for customer service with producers of performing arts and other events in University theaters.

Develop enhanced information dissemination program for the Information Desk; recommend new technology and office services and develop marketing plans to improve Information Desk's service to the University. Manage various personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring, training, merit recommendations, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules; coordinate work assignments for department.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Experience

Work requires two years experience in a business management, public relations, or related setting.
