Occupational Summary

Directs Duke's Office of Student Information Services and Systems (SISS), which provides functional ownership of multiple systems that support admissions, financial aid, student billing, advising, course registration and student records in all schools of the university.

Work Performed

Works closely and collaboratively with the OIT technical support team to deliver reliable and effective services to over 60,000 applicants, students, faculty and administrative users through a variety of technologies including the Oracle/PeopleSoft enterprise Student Administration System, ImageNow, Resource25, Tableau, HighPoint Mobile, College Scheduler, Schedule25, and Elucian (Banner) CRM. Works closely with academic leaders, school administrators and committees of students and faculty to anticipate and meet service needs.

Facilitate and ensure collaborative working relationships with OIT counterparts; directors of central offices; school and department stakeholders; and faculty and student advisory groups.

Partner with OIT to execute all new product and upgrade projects under the SISS umbrella including: planning, budget, staffing, business analysis, vendor selection, development, testing, communications and training.

Partner with university administrators in developing work processes and policies to ensure the University's student administrative services and systems are as effective and efficient as possible. Build consensus on systems support, development priorities, shared data elements, and reporting needs across schools and administrative units.

Anticipate the needs of new initiatives, programs, and schools, ensuring that the systems developed meet the current and future academic and administrative requirements. Advise administrative and academic units on how best to use these systems to support their activities.

Chair a university-wide SISS Advisory Committee with representatives from all the central and school offices. This group provides feedback and guidance on SISS initiatives and needs.

Participate in standing and ad-hoc committees including the Executive Vice Presidents Technology Group; in the Information Technology Advisory Committee; the SISS Management Group; and the Tableau Management Group.

Represent Duke in regional and national users' groups and maintain productive relationships with vendors to advocate for Duke's needs and priorities and secure best pricing.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires analytical, organization and communication skills generally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree program witin a related field.

Experience

Work requires eight years of relevant experience.
